A few days ago, Acer announced that their Predator X27 4K HDR monitor is going to be be delayed until the first quarter of next year. Well, something appears to be going on, since ASUS has pushed back the launch of their ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ as well. Both monitors have nearly identical specifications, while featuring the same panel for instance.


Optimized for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors

G.Skill has announced their Flare X series memory kit, which has been designed and tested in combination with AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper processors. When a new CPU architecture hits the market memory vendors usually conduct extensive stability tests before launching their kits. The G.Skill Flare X series offers very solid performance.


4K IPS panel with G-Sync

It looks like EVGA is going to release a new high-end gaming notebook. The company has updated their so called SC17 Gaming Notebook, which comes with a 17-inch, UHD screen with IPS panel. Apart from that the rest of the specifications are pretty interesting as well.


The first PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD from Corsair

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drives. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. While the MP500 was the first NVMe drive from Corsair, which featured a M.2 form factor, the Neutron NX500 is now the second drive from the Americans. This time the SSD comes in the shape of an add-in-card with a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface.


As fast as GTX 1080

AMD’s RX Vega GPU has been spotted in the Futuremark database, showcasing performance that is similar to NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, which would mean that the upcoming AMD flagship graphics card won’t be capable of competing with NVIDIA’s absolute high-end models. These days editors and reviewers have received their first RX Vega 64 samples including final drivers.

Celebrating six million SSD shipments

A few months ago it’s been reported that Kingston SSD sales are doing very well, coming in second after Samsung in 2016. Kingston has a long track record working closely with Marvell. Over the past years the two companies have sold millions of drives and celebrating the six million SSD shipments it appears to be the time to launch more new products.


Successors of 960 series

In addition to the latest information on QLC NAND flash memory and the upcoming NGSFF SSDs, Samsung is working on a new generation of consumer SSDs. According to the UNH InterOperability Laboratory list, Samsung is developing two new SSDs called "NVMe 97x and 98x" series. Furthermore, Samsung might change the EVO / Pro naming structure due to a new design of the SSDs.


128TB QLC SSD

Samsung have unveiled more details than ever before about their plans with V-NAND. Currently the company is working on the 8th generation V-NAND and on a new generation of SSDs. Samsung is working on QLC NAND flash which will be slower than TLC NAND on the same per-die level but with the right parallelization, the performance could be higher than expected.


Performance comparable to Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4

According to leaks in the SiSoft Sandra database there are the first benchmarks results on the upcoming AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X online. The benchmarks have been conducted on a ASUS X399 Zenith Extreme which should already be available. So far the results do look quite interesting meaning that the Threadripper 1920X packs quite a punch.

For data center

Intel has announced new products that should help transform storage in data centers. Intel unveils three product lines; the new "Ruler" form factor SSDs, Dual Port SSDs and SATA SSDs for data centers. The most interesting part of the announcement is the upcoming Ruler SSD, which looks like a ruler but are a bit fatter.



On Cinebench R15 and Geekbench

Another set of benchmarks on AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper CPU has surfaced. This time it looks like the 16 cores AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has been tested. This model features 16 cores, 32 threads and a TDP of 180W. The leak comes courtesy of a redditor who has actually managed to get his hands on the chip. The user ran some benchmarks and according to his post, Ryzen Threadripper is a better overclocker than mainstream Ryzen.


Another unlocked Core i3?

The acclaimed launch date of Coffee Lake based CPUs is in the near future and therfore news leaks are making it through on a rather frequent basis. This time an AnandTech forum user is jumping the gun - again - posting some details on two upcoming Intel Core i3 processors. Both models should feature four cores and four threads.


Facebook Live event

On August 21st, Intel is going to unveil their eighth-generation Core CPUs, codenamed Coffee Lake. Chipzilla is going to stream the announcement live on Facebook starting at 11:00 AM CEST (8:00 AM PDT). Intel didn't provide many details on what exactly they’re going to reveal related to Coffee Lake. Nevertheless since the live stream is going to take place two days before Gamescom 2017 opens its doors to the public, we’d guess it won’t just be notebook processors we’re going to see.

Up for pre-order

ASRock has revealed the full specifications of its X399 Taichi motherboard. A few months ago during Computex 2017, ASRock has unveiled their first two AMD X399 motherboards which are compatible with the upcoming AMD Threadripper processors. Meanwhile it looks like the company is ready to introduce this new platform.


Up to 18 cores

During the PC Gaming Show E3, Intel has revealed the Core X series of CPUs. While the first Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X chips are already available since last June the flagship models will become available in October. According to the latest information, the Core i9-7980XE features 18 cores and 36 threads, and it is combined with 24.75 MB of L3 cache. The base clock is set to 2.60GHz which is a pretty significant step down from the Core i9-7940X's 3.1GHz.


First MSI X299 microATX model

A few weeks ago, MSI has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards, which are compatible with Intel Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors. Meanwhile the company has unveiled the first microATX model. Including this board, MSI’s X299 portfolio consists of no less than ten different models. Like the name suggests, the X299M-A Pro doesn't belong to the Gaming series.


Another ATX model

During this years Computex, Gigabyte has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards for Intel's Basin Falls platform. So far Gigabyte has unveiled three ATX models which are all based on the same PCB. What differs is the color scheme, the audio solution and a few connectors. Meanwhile Gigabyte has started adding more models, which are still based on an ATX form factor. According to the first details, the upcoming X299 Aorus Gaming is supposed to mark the entry-level segment in the case of the X299 platform.
