During this years Computex, Gigabyte has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards for Intel's Basin Falls platform. So far Gigabyte has unveiled three ATX models which are all based on the same PCB. What differs is the color scheme, the audio solution and a few connectors. Meanwhile Gigabyte has started adding more models, which are still based on an ATX form factor. According to the first details, the upcoming X299 Aorus Gaming is supposed to mark the entry-level segment in the case of the X299 platform.
So far the Aorus Gaming series consists of four models: the X299 Aorus Gaming 9, the X299 Aorus Gaming 7, the X299 Aorus Gaming 3 and the X299 Aorus Gaming. The X299 Aorus Gaming is the latest model and it's based on an ATX form factor and “only” four DIMM slots. Gigabyte is marketing this board for the used with Kaby Lake-X processors specifically. According to the product page, it’s been designed to support only the quad-core Intel i7-7740X and i5-7640X processors.
In general the layout is quite similar to the other motherboards, which are already part of the X299 Aorus lineup. There are three full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and two PCIe x1 slots. There are eight SATA ports and they have been all angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The first M.2 slot is placed right below the CPU socket, while the second one is in the center area. Both slots are compatible with 22110 SSDs.
Apart from that, we don't see an I/O cover or additional RGB LEDs. In other words this motherboard should be pretty simple and clean in terms of design. According to Geizhals, the Gigabyte X299 Aorus Gaming should be available for 294 Euro. Although this board basically frames the entry-level segment in the case of X299 the price is still quite hefty.
