AMD unveils Ryzen Threadripper lineup

Four SKUs

The new series of Ryzen Threadripper processors will include four SKUs with both -WX and -X suffix. As you might know, the -WX suffix stands for "creators and innovators" while -X should mean "enthusiast and gamers".

AMD's Ryzen Threadripper CPU lineup includes one 32-cores CPU, one 24-cores processor, one 16-cores chip and one 12-cores model. The pack is led by the AMD Threadripper 2990WX with its 32-coress and 64-threads. The base clock frequency of this CPU is set to 3.00GHz, with a boost of 4.20GHz. Following the 2990WX, we find the 2970WX that is a 24-cores chip with SMT enabled. The clock frequency of this CPU is set to 3.00GHz, with a boost frequency of 4.20GHz.

Last but not least, AMD has unveiled two processors for enthusiast and gamers. The Threadripper 2950X that falls in the 16-cores category with SMT enabled and, Threadripper 2920X that comes with 12-cores and 24-threads. Both processors sport a clock of 3.50GHz, with a boost of 4.30GHz.

While the two top models will come with a TDP of 250W, the other two processors will have a TDP set to 180W like the previous generation.
