MSI adds X299M-A Pro motherboard

First MSI X299 microATX model

A few weeks ago, MSI has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards, which are compatible with Intel Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors. Meanwhile the company has unveiled the first microATX model. Including this board, MSI’s X299 portfolio consists of no less than ten different models. Like the name suggests, the X299M-A Pro doesn't belong to the Gaming series.

The layout is quite simple and it has also been equipped with three full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. The motherboard sports a black color scheme with probably a few RGB LEDs. In our opinion the layout might be perfect for compact workstations or for those gamers that don't want a rainbow inside their gaming PCs. On top of that, the motherboard comes with four DIMM slots.

With a 44-lane CPU, the motherboard supports x16/x16/ configurations regarding multi-GPU setups. There are eight SATA ports and they have all been angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The first M.2 slot is placed between the first and the second PCIe 3.0 slots and it’s compatible with 22110 units, while the second one is on the right edge, close to the 24-pin connector also supporting 22110 units.

Since this model doesn't belong to the Gaming series, there aren't bells and whistles like onboard buttons or plastic I/O cover. At the moment the motherboard is not yet available on Geizhals and therefore we don’t know it’s price yet.
