AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU benchmarks leak

Performance comparable to Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4

According to leaks in the SiSoft Sandra database there are the first benchmarks results on the upcoming AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X online. The benchmarks have been conducted on a ASUS X399 Zenith Extreme which should already be available. So far the results do look quite interesting meaning that the Threadripper 1920X packs quite a punch.

As you might already know the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU sports 12 cores and 24 threads, it features a base clock frequency of 3.5GHz and a Turbo of 4.0GHz. The CPU packs 12 x 512KB L2 Cache and 32MB of L3 Cache. Before looking at all the numbers a few things need to be clarified. First of all this is an engineering sample and not the final CPU, furthermore we don't know what memory has been used.

According to Wccftech, in the Arithmetic test, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X chip scores 318.18 GOPS while an Intel Xeon E5-2690 v4 at stock clocks scores 323.93 GOPS. In other words, the upcoming Ryzen Threadripper 1920X isn't just a fast CPU, it's almost as fast as a Xeon chip with 2 cores and 4 threads more. Unfortunately it's not clear what memory speeds and timings were used for the different tests.

On top of the the multimedia test has been run hitting 670.91 MPix/s, which once again, is a score that’s more than just capable of competing with the Xeon E5-2690 v4.

These scores are really decent considering you are looking at a CPU that is going to be priced at $799. Having all those new chips in the lineup AMD might almost certainly launch an attack on Intel's Core i9 and Xeon processors and we are quite curious to see the final performance of this chip and its overclocking potential.
