Nvidia will not focus on smartphone anymore

Gaming and cars are for Tegra

In an interview with CNET, Nvidia's CEO Jen-Hsun Huang noted that the company will no longer focus on the smartphone segment with Tegra chips but rather on gaming devices, like its own Shield console, and computing systems for cars.

The decision comes after the company failed to make an impact with its Tegra 4i SoC, where according to Jen-Hsun, Nvidia needed a lower price and not just performance in order to compete with many players on the market.

He also noted that the company will now switch focus on other markets, like gaming devices or cars, which now have a greater need for computing power for their entertainment as well as other systems.

Nvidia's chip might show up in some high-end devices but as far as mainstream smartphone is concerned the company no longer has any interest in it.
