Call of Duty is the flagship franchise when it comes to publisher Activisions line-up. Nevertheless it turns out that sales were down 19 percent year-on-year compared to Call of Duty: Black Ops II. At least that's what market-analysis firm Cown & Company says.
According to Activision the lower sales numbers were no surprise. Many gamers were holding off on byuing the new game, since they first want to move from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to next-gen consoles Xbox One as well as PlayStation 4. Activision had already approached investors, that the expected lower sales numbers on Call of Duty: Ghosts thatn what they managed to achieve with Black Ops II. But still Cowen analyst Doug Creutz believes, that things are even worse than what Activision says.
Since year-over-year gap is 19 percent, including two extra weeks of sales for Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game - when comapred to Black Ops II, the direct comparison to Modern Warfare 3 shows, that there is a 32 percent minus.
We're quite curios to see how many addtional copies Activision is going to sell now, since the launch of PlayStation 4 has taken place in most countries Xbox One.
