MSI's Radeon R9 290(X) Gaming series has been already detailed and unveiled earlier but we now have a first picture of the PCB behind the TwinFrozr IV Advanced cooler as well as some details regarding the prices as these two both appeared for pre-order at Canadian e-tailer NCIX.
The PCB on both the MSI R9 290 Gaming and the R9 290X Gaming will be the same and it is not that much different from the reference one, at least not on the layout side. The main difference is in the actual components as MSI went for MagicTech chokes and SK Hynix memory chips rather than Coiltronics chokes and Elipda chips seen on reference versions.
It still features dual-BIOS and according to the list of specifications posted at NCIX site, feature 5 to 7 percent overclock on the GPU. The memory on both graphics cards was left at reference 5.0GHz. With this in mind, the R9 290 Gaming OC could end up at around 1000MHz GPU clock while the R9 290X should end up at around 1040MHz.
As noted, both are already listed at Canadian e-tailer NCIX.com for pre-order with price set at $699 CAD (US $660) for the R9 290X Gaming, while the R9 290 Gaming OC is priced at $529.99 CAD (US $500).
