While the original Surface RT was way far from being a successful tablet, Microsoft has now launched the second version, simply called the Surface 2. Based on Nvidia's Tegra 4 SoC and much better 1080p ClearType display, same found on the Surface Pro 2, the new Surface 2 is at least much faster and much better than the original one.

Although it is still a bit too overpriced, it is three to four times faster than its predecessor, according to Microsoft, while the battery life is around 25 percent longer. The design is pretty much the same as on the Surface RT as you simply can't change that much stuff on a tablet. It is thinner at 8.9mm and even lighter at 676g when compared to the old Surface RT.

It got the same kickstand as the Surface Pro 2 and works with the new Touch Cover 2 as well. It will be available in black and white colors and offer 200GB of SkyDrive storage for 2 years. As noted, it is priced at US $449.
