There has been a lot of rumors regarding the new Surface 2 range of tablets and while the original Surface made Microsoft to write down a hefty US $900 on Surface RT and admitted that they simply overestimated the market by making too many Surface RT tablet it has finally and officially unveiled the new Surface Pro 2 with Haswell CPU and Windows 8.1 as well as the Surface 2 with Windows RT 8.1.
The Surface Pro 2 is definitely the more interesting one as it is, according to Microsoft's Vice President of Surface, Panos Panay, "literally faster than 95 percent of laptops today." while graphics performance was raised by 50 percent.
Specification wise, the new Surface Pro 2 is paired up with yet to be detailed Haswell CPU that is 20 percent faster than the original but also brings quite a significant 75 percent boost to battery life and runs much quieter. Paired up with the new Power Cover, tablet can get additional 2.5x more battery life or the new Type Cover 2 that is 1mm thinner an it backlit.
The kickstand was also redesigned and the Surface Pro 2 now has three USB 2.0, one USB 3.0, mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, audio and charging ports. When docked, it can even output 3840x2160 reoslution to external display and capable of edition 6K video, according to Microsoft.
