AMD has updated its Godavari desktop APU lineup adding two new processors to the list, the new mid-range quad-core A10-7860K APU and the entry-level dual-core A6-7470K APU.
Both new APUs will be a part of AMD's Godavari lineup which is also known as the "Kaveri Refresh". These parts are better binned and come with higher frequency as well as lower 65W TDP and can be used on AMD's socket FM2+ motherboards.
The new A10-7860K APU features two Steamroller modules, or four CPU cores and eight GPU cores. The base clock is set at 3.6GHz while maxium turbo goes to 4.0MHz. It also supports DDR3-2133 memory and has 4MB (2x2MB) of L2 cache. The GPU part has 512 Stream Processors and works at 754MHz. Due to its lower 65W TDP and higher CPU and GPU clock, the A10-7860K will replace three previously available A10-series Kaveri APUs, the A10-7850K, A10-7700K and the A10-7800K.
The A6-7470K APU is the only dual-core APU in the lineup and should be the lowest priced A-series SKU. The A6-7470K has a single Streamroller module, making it a dual-core design and works at 3.7GHz base and 4.0GHz maximum turbo clock. The GPU in the A6-7470K has four GPU compute units, translating to 256 Stream Processors and it works at 800MHz.
Both the A10-7860K and the A6-7470K, as well as the new Excavator-based Athlon X4 845, will be bundled with AMD's new Quiet Thermal Solution CPU coolers which should offer the same "near-silent" capability of the recently unveiled AMD Wraith CPU cooler. The new AMD Quiet Thermal Solution reference coolers will be available in two versions, 95W and 65W.
The A10-7860K and the Athlon X4 845 will get the 95W version while the A6-7470K will get the 65W version. AMD's Wraith CPU cooler will only be available with the FX-8370 CPU and there are no details if it will be available as a standalone product or bundled with any other FX-series CPU or A-series APU.
AMD has updated the price list by adjusting some of the older parts and introducing new ones. According to the new price list, the FX-8370 Wraith has a price of US $199.99, while the new AMD 10-7860K will cost US $117.99. AMD did not unveil the price of the new A6-7470K but considering that the A8-7650K has a price of for US $95.99, you can expect it to be cheaper, most likely with the similar US $79.99 price for the Athlon X4 860K.
According to AMD, both new APUs should be coming to retail/e-tail soon as well as be available in desktops from various OEM partners.
