AMD Zen-based Zeppelin spotted with 32 cores

Coming with Vega 10 graphics with HBM2

Rumors regarding AMD's Zen-based Zeppelin CPU have been around for quite some time and today, a Linux code published in a recent update by AMD confirms the name.

The same codename was mentioned in an AMD research paper earlier and had details regarding the same chip seen in the Exascale Heterogeneous Processor, which is an APU with Zepellin module.

According to the revealed code and new rumors, the Zeppelin includes 4 Zen core cluster with 32 CPU cores as each of the Zen cores has eight logical cores due to SMT. The Zeppelin is basically an MCM (Multi Chip Module) which combines 32 Zen CPU cores using AMD's own Coherent Fabric interconnect, with support data rates of 100GB/s.

It is still not clear if the Zeppelin codename actually refers to the MCM or just the Zen CPU cluster inside the MCM but earlier leak also suggested that it had Vega 10 GPU, previously known as Greenland connected to the CPU part via Coherent Fabric interconnect and using High Bandwidth Memory.

In any case, rumors regarding CPUs and APUs based on the upcoming Zen architecture are shaping up nicely so it is just a matter of time before we see more details.
