MSI unveils new 970A-G43 Plus motherboard

New socket AM3+ motherboard

MSI has unveiled its newest budget-oriented socket AM3+ motherboard based on AMD's 970 chipset, the 970A-G43 Plus.

Being a budget-oriented motherboard with a price below US $100, the MSI 970A-G43 is based on AMD's 970 + SB950 chipset and is aimed to be used with AMD's socket AM3+ CPUs with TDP of up to 125W. It features a 4+1-phase VRM powered by a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors and packs four DDR3 DIMM memory slots with support for up to 32GB of DDR3-2133 memory.

The rest of the specifications and features include a single and reinforced PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, one PCI/Express 2.0 x16 (working at x4), two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and two PCI slots. It also comes with six SATA 6Gbps ports, two USB 3.1 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, plenty of USB 2.0 ports, 7.1-channel Realtek ALC892 audio, Gigabit Realtek Ethernet and UEFI BIOS.

The new MSI 970A-G43 is one of the first socket AM3+ motherboards announced earlier by AMD that should bring modern connectivity to the AM3+ socket, including USB 3.1 and M.2 connectivity. Unfortunately, it lacks M.2 port but nevertheless it is still a decent budget motherboard.
