Metro Redux now available on Linux

With support for Steam Play

Those that are running on Linux OS might be happy to know that 4A Games have now released both the Linux and SteamOS versions of its Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux game, with both supporting Steam Play.

Since both of these newly released versions support Steam Play, it means that you should be getting those Linux versions in your Steam Library in case you already bought these games. Both versions will be getting all the graphics improvements seen on the Windows version, including SSAA, Motion Blur, NVIDIA's PhsyX technology and 4A Games noted that it is close to release an OpenGL 4.0 version of the game that will be available on Mac systems later this month.

Oles Shishkovstov, 4A Games Chief Technical Officer noted that: "Thanks to huge advances in driver support, the Metro Redux titles were developed for Linux using OpenGL 4.0. This has allowed us to deliver an experience that rivals the DX11 version for Windows in terms of graphical fidelity and performance - something that was just not possible when we ported the original Metro: Last Light to Linux a year ago."

4A Games also published both minimum and recommended system requirements that include 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 or 14.04 or Steam OS, Intel Core i5 2.7GHz or Intel Core i7 2.5GHz CPU, 4GB to 8GB of RAM, Nvidia Geforce 460/AMD Radeon HD 5850 graphics card with 2GB VRAM for minimum or Nvidia Geforce 680/AMD Radeon 7870 for recommended system requirements, as well as a 10GB of free space.
