388.31 WHQL drivers

The new GeForce Game Ready 388.31 WHQL drivers offer optimisations for two of the biggest games released a few days ago, Destiny 2 and Star Wars Battlefront II. Apart from game support some bugs have been addressed as well.



Available for early 2018

Over the last couple of months, there have been whispers regarding an additional Intel chipset and new CPU coming after Coffee Lake and Z370. Today the first Z390 motherboard seems to have made an appearance online. According to the latest rumors, Intel Z390 chipset should be compatible with 8-core processors.

Futuremark has just updated VRMark with Cyan Room that includes a new test that measures your PC's performance with the more efficient DirectX12 API. According to the company, the test sports a new DirectX 12 engine which allows large and complex environment.



With 4K panel

Acer has expanded its monitor lineup once again with a new model featuring a 31.5-inch, 3840 x 2160 resolution and an VA panel. Furthermore it supports AMD FreeSync and Acer's so called "Black Boost" feature, which can automatically boost the gamma value and therefore make dark scenarios in games better visible.

If you are looking for a mid-tower case which is compatible with high-end graphics cards as well as watercooling setup, FSP's CMT510 enclosure might be just what you've been looking for. The company has released a new case which is compatible with any kind of hardware as well as a big radiator.



With modular design

A few months ago be quiet! announced their Base Pro 900. Meanwhile, after having released the flagship model, be quiet! is coming up with the Dark Base 700, which is a rather small mid-tower chassis that's been made from SECC steel and aluminium.



At IM Flash foundry

Intel is expanding its production of 3D XPoint products, the company has announced that the expansion of its IM (Intel Micron) Flash foundry in Lehi (Utah) is complete. 3D XPoint is a high-speed, low-latency and non-volatile memory created together with Micron.

Over the past weeks we have read several reports regarding the lack of custom RX Vega 64 graphics cards. Unlike the previous rumors about the missing custom RX Vega 64, it appears that the manufacturers are actually going to release cards based on a custom design.




Expected for GTC 2018

A new report suggests NVIDIA is working on a new GPU architecture which will be available next year. According to Heise.de, NVIDIA's new architecture will come with the codename Ampere and will succeed Volta. However Volta will be used for enterprise-grade products like artificial intelligence, cloud computing and datacenter, while Ampere should be used in next generation consumer-grade graphics cards.



With GDDR6 memory and next-gen SSD

A group of judges have been going over some upcoming products giving out Design and Innovation awards. Samsung managed to receive up 36 of them, two of them are of particular interest to PC enthusiasts. The first is Samsung's new high-speed GDDR6 memory and the second regards a "next-generation form-factor" SSD.

Following the launch of the 16GB DDR4-4600 memory kit, Corsair intros a ridiculously fast DDR4-4333MHz CL19-26-26-46 memory kit with a total capacity of 32GB (4 x 8GB). The Vengeance LPX DDR4-4333MHz 32GB retail kits are aimed at high-end X299 and Z370 motherboards.

ASUS has revealed the full specifications of its WS X299 Sage motherboard. This model belongs to the high-end series and it's recommended for Core i9 Pro processors. This board is designed for high-end desktops and workstations. Like the other two models of the same series, the upcoming WS X299 Sage sports the company's highest-grade eletrical components.


Near share and upgrades on Edge

If you’re one of the users who participate in the Windows 10 Insider Preview program, you’ll be able to download yet another update for Windows time. Meanwhile we’ve reached Build 17035, which adds new functionality to Microsoft’s Edge browser as well as a so called Near share feature.



Intel CPU sitting right next to AMD GPU

We’ve read numerous rumors on this subject in the past but lately Intel finally confirmed that multi-chip modules with Coffee Lake CPUs and AMD Vega GPUs are going to happen. Meanwhile the first pictures of these implementations have surfaced on the Twitter account of tech website Bits’ n Chips.

It looks like EK Water Blocks is working hard again on bringing some new products to the market. A few weeks ago we have written about the newly released 140mm and 280mm CoolStream slim radiators and now there are also two new radiators in the lineup.


Bye bye i7-6950X

Two months after the launch of Skylake-X, Intel retires their Broadwell-E processors. The almost two years old Core i7-6800K, Core i7-6850K, Core i7-6900K and Core i7-6950X are now discontinued. The retirement of this generation chips doesn't really come as a surprise, since Intel never sold three generations of chips in parallel.
