Will it be a Titan X killer?

One of the main attractions at this years CES certainly was AMD presenting details on their upcoming Vega GPU architecture. It’s just great to see that AMD appears to have new products coming that might really be able to keep up with the competition - talking about Vega and Ryzen. Nevertheless we here at ocaholic are still sceptical since in the past AMD created so many false expectations, that we believe numbers when we tested a product ourselves.

With three UHD G-Sync displays

Razer has announced their new Project Valerie multi-monitor gaming laptop. It is a new concept that we will not see on the market anytime soon and it features a triple UHD screen and it is compatible with Nvidia G-Sync. It's not the first time we see a laptop with more than one display (like the Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds), but it's definitely the first time that we’re looking at a triple UHD display.

Quite high-priced at launch

Starting from today you can find all the new Intel Z270 motherboards listed in stores and online shops. Although not all the models are yet available on Geizhals.eu, we have decided to create a little "round-up" with the most interesting models from ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte and MSI. The prices are pretty interesting and also higher what we would have actually expected.

New power supplies and gaming peripherals

During the CES 2017 Corsair has announced a few new products including mice, keyboards and power supplies. During the past years Corsair has introduced several new power supplies and lately they are also pushing with SFX units. Following the trend, they’re also showing new gaming peripherals with RGB lighting effects.

Special Edition case

NZXT has released another mid-tower case for PC Gamers. This new mid-tower has been ROG-certified and painted in an exclusive Gun Gray finish and features Aura RGB lighting. Beside that, it's a normal Noctis 450 case with slightly different details. Like on the original model there is a good compatibility with high-end setup and watercooling gear.

A new extreme case

During CES 2017 in Las Vegas, the American manufacturer Phanteks has released another big-tower case which features tempered glass panels and aluminium materials. This new big-tower is modern looking and apart from that compatible with water cooling gear and high-end hardware. It is for example compatible with E-ATX motherboards and large radiators.

Like every day we're showing you a very nice build or from one of our modder friends. As always we will show you the nicest pictures of the build and if possible also the specifications here in the news and the full album with all pictures can be found in our Case Mod Gallery.

Cannon Lake in action

Cannon Lake is going be Intel’s next die shrink moving from 14nm process technology to 10nm. During their CES press conference Intel has shown a working 10nm Cannon Lake CPU for the first time.

In our hardware roundup we post all reviews from the hardware sites around the globe we can find. Apparently we wish you a lot of fun browsing the lists and we hope you're going to enjoy those reviews.

Star Wars Battlefront at 60 fps at UHD

During the CES 2017 in Las Vegas AMD has shown a system based on a Ryzen processor and Vega graphics card. This is not the first time that AMD shows a system with this kind of components, a few weeks ago they displayed a similar system during the Tech Day in Sonoma California. The difference is that this time the system was running Star Wars Battlefront at 60 fps on a UHD display with probably Ultra quality settings.

Goes by the name S2718D

Dell announced the S2718D monitor which features a 27-inch panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution and 108 PPI. Apart from that Dell states that the panel used covers 99% of the sRGB profile. Apart from that the new display supports HDR10. The display features a glossy panel with ultra-thin bezels.

New heatsink design

Looking at the Z270 line-up from ASUS a few things have change compared to the past generation. Although the layout is still quite similar compared to the Maximus VIII Hero, the same can’t be said for the design.

A few new details

Although CES 2017 has not yet started we’ve already found a few pictures of MSI’s upcoming AM4 motherboards. So far there aren't too many details available on motherboards for the upcoming Ryzen CPUs, so we’re pretty happy to get our hands on new imagery, especially since one of the boards is a new Titanium, flagship model

Upgrade on the storage side

So far the ASUS Maximus IX line-up consists of five motherboards and two of them are completely new models. Apparently the Maximus IX Formula is the successor of the Maximus VIII Formula and therefore not a new but an upgraded model. At a first glance not much has changed, so we have to look for details to see what has happened.

A big step forward

The Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon from MSI is a mid-range motherboard that comes with a few interesting features. Compared to the previous model, which goes by the name Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon, we see a similar color scheme - as the name suggests - but a reworked layout and a new design for all the heatsinks.

A few scores from Racoon and RULE

Yesterday plenty of new scores popped up on HWBot, which showed the overclocking potential of Intel’s Kaby Lake processors. Also our own overclockers Mike "racoon" Buchroither and Franco "RULE" Valtulina have managed to overclock the new high-end mainstream CPU from Intel reaching very respectable frequencies and scores. Both overclockers have tested the new CPUs on four benchmarks using several liters of liquid nitrogen.

No more red

Checking at the Z270 Gaming series from MSI we can tell that few things have changed compared to the past generation based on the Intel Z170 chipset. For example the color scheme of the entire series is kept in black and shades of grey.

With armor but no water cooling

Looking at the Z270 line-up from ASUS quite a few things have change compared to the past and one of those things is that with the “Code”, there is a completely new model. While it basically looks like the Maximus IX Formula there are a few features missing, like for example the VRM water cooling block.
