A few scores from Racoon and RULE
Yesterday plenty of new scores popped up on HWBot, which showed the overclocking potential of Intel’s Kaby Lake processors. Also our own overclockers Mike "racoon" Buchroither and Franco "RULE" Valtulina have managed to overclock the new high-end mainstream CPU from Intel reaching very respectable frequencies and scores. Both overclockers have tested the new CPUs on four benchmarks using several liters of liquid nitrogen.
Rule has tested one of his new Core i7-7700K CPUs on wPrime, SuperPi, PiFast and Geekbench3. While on wPrime and Geekbench3 his CPU was running at about 6.4GHz, on less intensive benchmarks like SuperPi and Pifast he reached 6.8GHz. Especially with SuperPi and Pifast it’s possible to deactivate unused cores, which then allows to overclock your CPU higher than using all cores available. Pushing for the highest frequency possible Rule reached 6.83GHz with 1.93 volts on SuperPi 1M, which was good enough for the third place.
Racoon tested his Intel i7-7700K on Geekbench3, Cinebench and wPrime. The average frequency he reached was in the ballpark of 6.6GHz except on PiFast, there he was able to push his chip to 6.9GHz. So far all his score are very close to the top three, but as we all know, lots of overclockers are now working to get the maximum out of the very same CPU.
Regarding the system that’s been used for benching, both racoon and RULE have mounted their CPUs on an ASRock Z170M OC Formula motherboard in combination with memory from G.Skill and a power supply from Seasonic.
