Four six core processors

Judging by the sheer number of rumors, that are surfacing these days regarding the upcoming Intel mainstream desktop processors, we’re closing in on the launch of these new parts. This time it’s again CPCHardware leaking information including clock speeds, TDPs and core counts.

Pentium G4560 is the best budget gaming CPU

According to DigiWorthy, Intel is limiting the production of their Pentium G4560 in order to increase retail pricing and improve the sales of their more expensive i3 CPUs. With the launch of Kaby Lake, Intel has brought change to their Pentium lineup which includes Hyperthreading. This means there are now Pentium CPUs with two cores and four threads available for as little as 58 Euro. Thanks to Hyperthreading, the performance of the new Intel Pentium CPUs pretty close to Intel’s Core i3 chips.

New record from sofos1990

We have covered sofos1990 breaking records in the past and apparently the Greek overclocker did it again. This time he pushed a new Intel Core i9-7900X CPU to 6.01 GHz using a Gigabyte X299 SOC Champion motherboard and liquid nitrogen cooling. The clock speed was achieved using 102 MHz BCLK and a multiplier of 59.

New video from extreme overclocker der8auer

The German overclocker Roman Hartung aka der8auer has put his hands on Intel’s X299 platform once again. According to the new video he uploaded on his Youtube channel, he shows his testing techniques to the viewers and concluded that all issues initially detected can be found only with extensive testing. During the video he goes into extensive detail but following we list you the most important points.

Performance comparable to Intel Core i5-3570K

According to leaks in the SiSoft Sandra and PassMark databases, there are, what appear to be, the first benchmarks on the upcoming AMD Ryzen 3 CPUs which should become available during the upcoming months. As reported on Wccftech, the CPU tested appears to be a Ryzen 3 1200.

The chipset for Coffee Lake

According to latest rumors, Intel is planning to release their new Coffee Lake series of CPUs alongside the Z370 chipset in Q4 2017. Although the acclaimed launch date will be somewhen between October and December time frame, news leaks related to Coffee Lake are making it through almost every day now.

Gets way too hot

The German overclocker Roman Hartung aka der8auer has put his hands on Intel’s X299 platform. According to the video uploaded on his Youtube channel, most of the motherboards around have poor MOSFETs/VRM heatsinks. Overclocking a CPU up to 4.6GHz he has been hitting dangerously high VRM temperatures.

The first one to be based on the new chips

Intel has launched their 545s SSD which use 64-layer 3D NAND to offer further increased storage density compared to SSDs powered by standard Planar NAND. With the 545s, Intel offers a unit based on a Silicon Motion SM2258 controller. At this moment the 545s is only available with 512GB capacity, but models ranging from 128GB up to 2 TB can be expected.

Compared to our test system

Although the acclaimed launch date will be somewhen in August news leaks related to Coffee Lake are making it through almost every day now. This time Wccftech jumped the gun and they found another leak in the Geekbench database. In order to do some comparison, we have run quick test with our Core i7-5820K at stock clocks.

To be announced in August?

It looks like AMD is really making Intel all nervous, so nervous in fact that there are already benchmarking values of what seems to be an early Coffee Lake sample appearing. The great thing about Coffee Lake is the fact, that it will bring six cores to the mainstream market.

More information about the overclock capability

A few pages of an overclocking reviewer’s guide on Intel's X299 Kaby Lake-X platform and CPUs have leaked. According to this document a “good” Intel Core i7-7740X chip is supposed to run Cinebench R15 at 5.0 GHz and 1.205v in combination with a potent CPU cooler. If you’re lucky it could even be possible that you’d be able to run your chip at 5.2 GHz, but with higher voltages - of course.

Flagship models expected for October

During the pre-show days at the PC Gaming Show E3, Intel has revealed the launch date for its Core X series of CPUs. The first Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X chips will go on pre-order by June 19 and the first units are going to be shipped the following week. At launch everything from the four core Core i5-7640K chip all the way up to the ten core Core i9-7900X processor is going to be available.

To be launched in Early 2018

It looks like Intel is working hard lately. At the moment we are waiting for Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X which should be released soon and after that Coffee lake seems to be knocking on the door already. According to Intel, Cannon Lake is on track and Ice Lake has taped in as well. Ice Lake will be the second generation of 10nm processors while Cannon Lake will be the first.

Up to 4TB of capacity

With the DC P4501 SSD Intel is introducing their latest enterprise grade drive that makes use of 3D TLC NAND flash memory. All drives use the NVMe protocol and they are available in different form factors.

In three months already?

In order to reply to AMD's new Ryzen and Threadripper CPUs, Intel is planning to increase the core count on their next-generation desktop platform. According to the latest rumors, Intel might add a six core CPU regarding their 8th generation of mainstream desktop CPUs.

i7-7800X, i7-7820X and i9-7900X

Although the acclaimed launch date will be somewhen during the upcoming months news leaks related to Skylake-X are making it through almost every day. This time wccftech jumped the gun and they have found some leaks in the Geekbench database. The results are pretty impressive, with the Intel Core i9-7900X hitting over 57'000 points in the multi-core benchmark.

Sounds too good to be true, right?

It looks like we’re closing in on what appears to be another launch of an Intel CPU lineup. Otherwise there is no way explaining why there are this many leaks surfacing regarding unreleased products. Some forum user from Dutch website Hardware.info has apparently had his hands on an upcoming Intel Core i9 7900X (10 core) as well as an Intel core i9 7920X (12 core).

Up to 12 cores

Judging by the sheer number of rumors, that are surfacing these days around the upcoming Intel high-end desktop processors, we’re closing in on the launch of these new parts. This time it’s again Anandtech who reported that Intel will launch Skylake-X parts with up to 12 cores.

Intel tells to stop overclocking

During the past three months, some owners of Intel Core i7-7700 and 7700K processors have been complaining about unusual temperature increases. According to user accounts, temperatures can sometimes hit 90°C and reach the maximum 100°C threshold. Intel has finally come up with a response to the complaints, though the answer is not really offering any solutions to the users.

Better late than never

Intel has patched a remote execution bug that dates back to 2008. According to Intel millions of Intel workstation and server chips could be potentially exploited to remotely control and infect systems with spyware.
