Judging by the sheer number of rumors, that are surfacing these days around the upcoming Intel high-end desktop processors, we’re closing in on the launch of these new parts. This time it’s again Anandtech who reported that Intel will launch Skylake-X parts with up to 12 cores.



The leaked slides show a few more details on the Skylake-X family, which will contain 6, 8, 10 and 12 core SKUs. All of them will have 44/28 PCIe 3.0 lanes, no integrated graphics, up to 16.50MB of last level cache and support for DDR4-2666 and DDR4-2400 memory. Skylake-X will come with Turbo Boost 3.0 on board and a TDP of up to 150W.

The Kaby Lake-X lineup, on the other hand, will only feature 4-core SKUs with 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes, up to 8MB of last level cache and 112W of TDP. Intel Turbo Boost 3.0 will be on board as well and there will also be support for DDR4-2666 and DDR4-2400 memory.

If this table is right, the new CPUs will reach impressive boost clock speeds as well as a new Intel i9 naming scheme. Especially compared to the current Broadwell-E processors the boost clocks of the upcoming Core i9-7900X and i9-7820 will be substantially higher. A single clock can therefore be pushed to no less than 4.5 GHz, which is definitely impressive.

At this time this report cannot be verified, though it matches some previous rumours. Intel's X299 platform is expected to launch within the next month, so we should know whether or not this is true soon enough.
