Intel releases DC P4501 NVMe SSD

Up to 4TB of capacity

With the DC P4501 SSD Intel is introducing their latest enterprise grade drive that makes use of 3D TLC NAND flash memory. All drives use the NVMe protocol and they are available in different form factors.

The DC P4501 NVMe SSD is going to be available with 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacity. All drives are based on Intel’s latest 3D TLC NAND flash memory, which allows for higher capacities than traditional 2D/Planar NAND flash memory. Like with most NVMe SSDs today, the DC P4501 will also feature a 32Gb/s M.2 interface. On top of that Intel has variants with U.2 interface ready as well.

Looking at the advertised performance numbers, sequentially reading these drives should hit up to 3'200MB/s and 900MB/s in the case of sequentially writing. Furthermore 360'000/46'000 IOPS can be achieved regarding random reads/writes.

All the drives are backed by 5 years of warranty. Apart from that these SDDs also feature data loss protection thanks to a set of capacitors. In the case of a power failure these would hold enough charge that the in-flight data can be written from the DRAM cache to the NAND flash. So far Intel has not revealed details on pricing and availability on their DC P4501 SSD series.
