Computex 2014: ASUS announces Transformer Book V

A five-in-one device

During its press conference at Computex 2014 ASUS has unveiled quite a few new devices including a rather interesting five-in-one Transformer Book V, a smartphone, tablet and a laptop.

To be precise, the ASUS Transformer Book V consists of three parts, a 12.5-inch tablet, a 5-inch smartphone, which docks into that tablet, and a keyboard dock which tablet docks into. Unfortunately, ASUS did not shed much precise details regarding the actual specs of these three devices but did share some details.

The 12.5-inch tablet will be based on a next-generation Intel Core CPU, which will most likely be the new low-power Broadwell part and will feature up to 128GB of storage with 4GB of LPDDR3 memory. The 5-inch smartphone LTE-capable device will be based on a yet to be detailed Intel 64-bit Atom quad-core processor, run on Kitkat 4.4 OS, has 8-megapixel rear camera and up to 64GB of storage space and 2GB of RAM. The dock itself will have certain amount of storage but ASUS did not get into any details.

The best part of the story is that the device will be running on both Windows and Android OS so it can function as Android tablet/laptop, Windows tablet/laptop or as a smartphone running on Android as well.

Of course, ASUS only announced the device and it still did not shed any details regarding the availability date or the actual price.
