Built around a 7.9-inch 2048x1536 resolution touch-screen, the Xiaomi Mi Pad will not only take on Apple's iPad mini but also looks a lot like the iPad mini as well. Powered by Nvidia's new Tegra K1 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz for the quad-core CPU part paired up with Kepler-class GPU with 192 cores and 2GB of RAM, the Xiaomi Mi Pad will certainly pack a decent performance punch.
The rest of the features include an 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 16 or 64GB of internal storage, depending on the model, expandable via microSD card slot, 6700mAh battery, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth as well as run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with MIUI skin on top of it.
According to early details, the new Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet will be priced at 1,499 Chinese yuan which is about US $240 for the 16GB version and 1,699 Chinese yuan or around US $270 for the 64GB version. Unfortunately, there are no details regarding global availability but we will surely hear more about it quite soon. Of course, Nvidia is also working on a similar 8-inch tablet which should show up pretty soon.
