ASUS announces new C200 and C300 Chromebooks

Coming in June

Just after the joint Intel/Google press event in San Francisco, ASUS has announced its newest 11.6-inch C200 and 13.3-inch C300 Chromebooks which should be on retail/e-tail shelves in June.

Both new Chromebooks from ASUS are running on Chrome OS and are based on Intel's Celeron N2830 dual-core Silvermont CPU with 1MB of L2 cache and 2.4GHz clock. Based on either the 11.6-inch (C200) or 13.3-inch (C300) screen real estate, both have the same 1366x768 resolution, 720p webcam, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, SD card reader, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. The battery on both models should be enough to keep them up and running for around 10 hours between charging, according to ASUS.

The difference also lies in amount of memory and storage so the cheaper and smaller ASUS C200 will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage while the ASUS C300 will have 4GB of RAM and be available with both 16 and 32GB of internal storage.

According to ASUS, both the ASUS C200 and the C300 Chromebook should be ready in June with a price starting at US $249.99.
