Gearing up for the launch of Intel's new 9-series motherboards based on Intel Zx7 Express chipset with support for upcoming Intel Haswell Refresh CPUs, ASRock has teased its lineup with a total of five new motherboards, ranging from high-end Zx7 OC Formula and the Zx7-Extreme6 down to more affordable Zx7-Extreme4 ATX and the Zx7-E ITX mini-ITX motherboards.
The list starts with the high-end Zx7 OC Formula which features a yet to be detailed high-end VRM part drawing power from 24-pin ATX, two 8-pin EPS power connectors and an optional 4-pin Molex for add-on cards. It features four DDR3 DIMM slots, four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, six SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express port, Killer E2200 Ethernet, Purity 2 audio, voltage measuring points and bunch of other high-end features.
Just below it is the Zx7-Extreme6, which is the most feature-packed motherboard with 12-phase CPU VRM, three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, ten SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express port, two M.2 slots, eSATA port, DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, same Purity 2 audio and dual-UEFI BIOS.
In order to draw in gamers to the new Intel Haswell Refresh CPUs, ASRock has prepared the Zx7-Fatal1ty Killer motherboard with recognizable red on black color scheme. It packs a 10-phase CPU VRM, four DDR3 DIMM slots, two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (in x8/x8 mode), two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and two plain PCI slots in case you want to use your older PCI-based sound card, gaming motherboard must have Killer E2200 NIC, DVI, D-Sub and HDMI outputs, six USB 3.0 ports, dual-UEFI BIOS, six SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express and M.2 port and pretty much anything that you would want from a gaming-grade motherboard.
The next in line is the ASRock Zx7-E ITX, a feature-rich mini-ITX motherboard with 6-phase CPU VRM part, two DDR3 DIMM slots, single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, six SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express, six USB 3.0 ports, Intel Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1-channel audio, integrated 802.11ac and Bluetooth as well as DVI, two HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.
The last, and probably the least expensive, is the Zx7-Extreme4, which offers the same high-end 12-phase CPU VRM, two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8/x8 mode), one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot (x4) and three PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots. The storage connectivity includes eight SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express one, one M.2 slot while connectivity side features Intel Gigabit Ethernet and up to eight USB 3.0 ports. The rest of the features include on-board power and reset button, LED debug POST, same Purity 2 audio, much more, which is definitely nice considering that it will be one of the least expensive motherboard in the lineup.
Of course, we will see more info regarding ASRock lineup as soon as these motherboards are "officially" released.
