Sapphire announces factory-overclock R9 295X2

The R9 295X2 OC Limited Edition

Sapphire has announced the availability of its Radeon R9 295X2 graphics cards and is actually the first AIB partner to offer a factory-overclocked R9 295X2 graphics card. Although it actually comes with just a minor factory-overclock for the GPU, it shows that there is a bit more room for higher GPU clocks on the R9 295X2 graphics cards, or some of them at least.

Both the standard R9 295X2 as well as the R9 295X2 OC Limited Edition from Sapphire will retain AMD's reference design with Project Hydra AiO water cooler and will ship in an aluminum carry case, which is a nice touch compared to competition.

While the standard Sapphire R9 295X2 works at 1018MHz for the GPU and 5000MHz for 8GB of GDDR5 memory, the Sapphire R9 295X2 OC Limited Edition got factory-overclocked to 1030MHz for the GPU and 5200MHz for the same 8GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a dual 512-bit memory interface. We doubt that there will be any big difference in performance, but the higher memory clock could give it an edge and decent boost in high-resolution and multi-display scenarios.

While the standard R9 295X2 from Sapphire should hit retail with US $1499 price tag, Sapphire did not reveal any details regarding the price premium for the R9 295X2 OC Limited Edition but we guess we will find out soon enough.
