Crysis 1 and 2 to lose multiplayer function

Once GameSpy shutdown

Previous announcement that GameSpy will be shutting down on May 31st 2014 left a lot of games stranded without multiplayer, including the Crytek's Crysis 1 and Cryis 2.

The list of games that actually will not have multiplayer any more is quite extensive and while most of them were published before 2010 it is still a bit problem. The list also includes both the Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 titles and it appears that Crytek will not do anything about it.

According to statement from Crytek, “The single-player campaigns in both games are unaffected by this transition, and the multiplayer mode in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 versions of Crysis 2 remain playable. We’d like to thank everyone who has taken up arms in Crysis and Crysis 2?s multiplayer modes in the last few years, and apologize to the small but dedicated community of PC players who are still actively competing against one another.”

Some publishers dealt with problem and, for example, EA is looking for ways to transfer older Battlefield games to their own servers and allow multiplayer to go on. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Crytek's Crysis 1 and Crysis 2 titles.
