Gigabyte has announced two new Radeon graphics cards which will be a part of its Overclocked Edition lineup, the Gigabyte Radeon R9 280, GV-R928WF3OC-3GD and the Radeon R7 265, GV-R7265WF2OC-2GD. Both new graphics cards will feature a factory-overclock and use Gigabyte's own and quite well known Windforce cooler.
The Gigabyte R9 280 OC Edition is naturally based on the AMD 28nm Tahiti GPU and features 1792 GCN Stream Processors and packs 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface. It is equipped with Gigabyte's own Windforce 3X triple-fan cooler and three 8mm pure copper heatpipes combined with a rather hefty heatsink. The new Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 OC Edition ends up working at base GPU clock of 950MHz, GPU Boost clock of 1072MHz while 3GB of GDDR5 memory ended up clocked at 5000MHz.
The Gigabyte Radeon R7 265 OC Edition on the other hand features AMD's 28nm Curacao GPU with 1024 Stream Processors and packs 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. It also comes with Gigabyte's own dual-fan Windforce 2X cooler which should not have any problem to keep the GPU well cooled. Unfortunately, Gigabyte is yet to detail the new R7 265 OC Edition on its website so we still do not have any details regarding how far did Gigabyte decided to push the clocks from reference 925MHz for the GPU and 1400MHz (5.6GHz effective) for memory.
The new Gigabyte R9 280 OC Edition is already listed in Europe with a lowest price set at €269,99 while there is still no trace of the R7 265 OC Edition.
