Apple and Samsung first patent war now over

Samsung to pay Apple US $930 million

The largest lawsuit in the US, between Apple and Samsung, also called "the patent wars" is finally over and Apple will be getting around US $930 million in damages but has been denied the sales ban.

The patent lawsuit in the US between Apple and Samsung started back in 2012, and original verdict was that Samsung needed to pay US $1.05 billion in damages for infringing patents and after some time, and a new trial, Samsung fine has now been reduced down to US $929.8 million. While it did lose the trial and has to pay a lot of money to Apple, Samsung will still be able to sell its products in the US as Apple's request for permanent sales ban was denied by the court.

The things are far from over as Apple has already started a new lawsuit which adds more devices to the list, including the Galaxy S III, probably the most successful Samsung smartphone. The new trial will start by the end of this month.

It will be quite interesting to see if Samsung finally managed to break away from Apple's patent war grasp or will it get another huge penalty when this new trial is over.
