Thief 4 analyzed on PC, Xbox One and PS4

With comparison video

The next-generation consoles are trying to catch up with the experience you get when you are running a modern PC and today we have a chance to check out a comparison video that shows the new Thief 4 game running side by side on PS4, Xbox One and the PC.

Whether the gaming is better on the PC or on consoles is definitely a big debate and while consoles are pretty good and upgrade-free gaming devices, they lack other features that only PC can offer. Also, PC was in general much better when it comes to graphics quality but also was a more expensive option.

In the two videos below, you can check out identical game sequences on all three current gaming platforms and while it is obvious that PC is still ahead when it comes to raw frame rate performance, the consoles do not appear far off from Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 when it comes to managing lights and precision textures.

All three platforms were filmed at 1080p resolution, except for Xbox One which forced the game down to 900p. Since PC and next-gen consoles are pretty much based on the same architecture now, the FXAA (anti-aliasing) is still working better on consoles and add to the final rendering.

If consoles keep up with the development in this direction, in future, the PC will only need a console OS in order to play the games from the PC and Valve is the first company to be on that track with its Steam OS.
