The Mobile World Congress 2014 would not be anything without its annual MWC awards where 175 independent analysts, journalists, academics and subject matter experts come together to give out some quite important awards in the industry. This year, HTC One managed to get the Best Smartphone award while Apple scooped the Best Tablet one with its iPad Air.

While HTC One certainly had quite a big competition among Apple's iPhone 5S, LG G2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Apple's iPad Air stole the Best Mobile Tablet award among the Nexus 7 2013, Sony Xperia Tablet Z and Apple iPad mini 2.

In other categories, Nokia 105 got the Best Entry-level smartphone award, LG was named the Most Innovative Device Manufacturer of the Year taking the crown from Samsung's last year victory, and FiLIP got the Best Mobile-Enabled Consumer Electronics Device.

Today, February 26th, MWC will announce the Best New Mobile Handset Device or Tablet Award winner so that one will be quite interesting as there were quite a few good devices at MWC 2014.
