Oculus Rift developer kit no longer available

Suspended due to component shortage

According to community managed Andres Hernandez, it appears that certain components used in the Oculus Rift developer kit are no longer being manufacturers, which means that they are no longer available to Oculus VR for production. While the company still has some stock available they are quickly running out and as a result they have to suspend sales in some regions until they are able to deliver new orders.

Although the company never talked about exact figures, Hernandez noted that they managed to ship well over 50,000 Oculus Rift developer kits. “We never expected to sell so many development kits and VR only made this much progress with the community's support and enthusiasm. Even though we never wanted to sell out, it's a good problem to have", said Hernandez.

Earlier last week, Oculus VR also trademarked RiftCon, a convention which will be all about virtual reality gaming. While it already was on most conventions like CES and E3 where it did gather a lot of attention, it certainly has enough background to make its own convention which will be all about virtual reality.
