Intel refreshes Core i5 and Core i7 mobile lineup

With ten new CPUs

Intel has extended and refreshed its CPU mobile lineup with no less than ten new Core i7, Core i5 and Celeron chips including the new flagship Core i7-4940MX quad-core CPU working at 3.1GHz.

The new lineup includes five Core i7 CPUs, four Core i5 and a single Celeron chip. The most interesting is the new flagship Core i7-4940MX quad-core CPU clocked at 3.1GHz which replaces the older 3.0GHz clocked Core i7-4930X. The new Core i7-4940MX flagship features hyper-threading, has 8MB of L3 cache, comes with Intel's HD 4600 graphics and a US $1096 price tag.

In addition to the Core i7-4940MX, the Core i7 lineup also includes the Core i7-4610M, i7-4810MQ, i7-4860HQ, i7-4910MQ quad-core CPUs ranging from US $346 for the Core i7-4610M to US $568 for the Core i7-4910MQ. As noted earlier, the Core i5 lineup was refreshed with four new parts including the Core i5-4310M, i5-4310U, i5-4340M and i5-4360U. The last but not the least is Intel's new Celeron 2980U dual-core 1.6GHz clocked CPU with 2MB of L3 cache and US $107 price.

In case you missed it, the new Celeron as well as the Core i5-4360U, i5-4310U are new members of Intel's ultra-low voltage CPUs and most likely the ones we will see in most Ultrabooks or other thin and light notebooks.
