Motorola and Google have rather silently introduced a new version of the budget-friendly Moto G smartphone in the US, the Moto G Google Play edition. Available for US $179 for the 8GB version and US $199 for the 16GB version, it is still not clear if the Moto G GP edition will only be limited to the US.
The new Google Play edition Moto G smartphone is pretty much identical to the AT&T and T-Mobile versions in the United States but lacks LTE connectivity. Motorola and Google apparently think that LTE connectivity is not that important when it comes to budget-friendly smartphones.
Since there is no hardware difference, you are still looking at a 4.5-inch 720p display smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, 5-megapixel camera and 2,070mAh battery.
As noted, there is still no word if the Moto G Google Play edition will only be limited to the US, so there is still hope that we will see it in the rest of the world as well.
