XFX Radeon R9 280X Double Dissipation leaks

Still on Tahiti chip

Although it is pretty much confirmed that R9 280X will be based on the Tahiti XTL GPU based on "older" GCN-architecture, it will not stop AMD AIB partners to come up with new designs and one of those, the XFX R9 280X Double Dissipation has showed up online.

While it is still not clear if the R9 280X will use an identical PCB design like the HD 7970 GHz Edition, the XFX R9 280X Double Dissipation certainly looks interesting. Featuring a dual 100mm fan design with taller aluminum heatsink and couple of copper heatpipes, we guess it will have no trouble in keeping it nice and cool. The box also shows the "Unlocked Voltage" feature but it is still not clear what that exactly means.

In case you missed it earlier, the 28nm Tahiti XTL GPU packs 2048 GCN stream processors, 128 TMUs and a 384-bit memory interface. The R9 280X card will pack 3GB of memory and is expected to be clocked at around 1GHz for the GPU with memory clocked at 6.4GHz, which is slightly higher than on the HD 7970 GHz Edition.

AMD only said that the reference R9 280X should hit US $299 mark so you can expect the XFX custom one to go for a bit more than that.
