Samsung Galaxy Gear confirmed for Unpacked event

In Berlin on September 4th

Samsung's executive vice president of Samsung Mobile, Lee Young-hee has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Gear will debut at Samsung's own Unpacked event scheduled for 4th of September in Berlin or just a few days before the big IFA 2013 show in the same city.

The confirmation come from Lee Young-hee interview done with the Korean Times where he said that "We will be introducing a new wearable concept device called Galaxy Gear at our own event in Berlin on Sept. 4". The decision does not come as a surprise since there has been a lot of talk regarding the new Samsung smartwatch that will be called the Galaxy Gear.

This will put Samsung in a really good position against its main rival Apple as currently there are no rumors that Apple will announce its iWatch, let alone get it to the market. According to known details, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be available in at least five colors but will not, unfortunately, feature a flexible screen. On the other hand, Samsung might unveil a couple of new prototypes that might be based on flexible display technology.

The Unpacked event, with Galaxy Note III as the star, as well as the entire IFA 2013 show will surely be interesting and we will definitely keep our eye on it.
