LG Display has announced its first Quad HD AH-IPS LCD display for smartphones that will bring a 2560x1440 resolution to a 5.5-inch size which adds up to an incredible 538ppi density making it better and higher than the current leading display found in the HTC One smartphone.
According to LG Display, since it features four times the pixels used on a standard 1280x720 HD screen, the new display will bring clearer picture as well as more vivid colors and noticeable improvement in contrast. The screen feature 430 nit of brightness. LG Display is calling it a "Blu-ray equivalent video" on the smartphone screen. The new screen will also allow web browsers on a smartphone to view a full version of web pages without distorting the image.
The new LG Quad HD AH-IPS LCD display is also the slimmest and narrowest panel in the world, according to LG Display. It is a mere 1.21mm thick and has a 1.2mm bezel which makes it 12 percent thiner than LG's FHD screen.
Unfortunately, LG did not shed any details regarding the actual shipping date of the new display but it is quite certain it caught the attention of smartphone makers.
