According to leaked details at VR-Zone that we managed to confirm with our sources, AMD plans to introduce a fourth Tahiti GPU version that should launch sometimes after the Hawaii GPU, the Tahiti XTL.
As you already know, the Tahiti XTL will end up to be the fourth GPU in the Tahiti lineup with current Pro, XT and LE models. According to our sources, the Tahiti XTL based graphics cards will be priced below US $300 which puts it in line with some lowest priced HD 7950 graphics cards. We doubt that it will end up to be faster than the HD 7970 but it should be quite close.
In any case, the Tahiti XTL will most likely be a top seller especially if the performance comes anywhere near the HD 7970, currently priced at around US $300 for the plain one and around US $380 for the HD 7970 GHz Edition.
The upcoming Tahiti XTL GPU as well as the new Hawaii GPU will certainly put a lot of pressure on Nvidia and currently there is not even a hint regarding Nvidia's next move, other than the one heard back in June during Computex noting that Nvidia will not have new GPUs to counteract AMD's push.
