Intel will not exit branded server motherboard business

Confirmed by the company

Intel has sent out official statements to site that covered the previous rumor that company will leave the branded server motherboard business, stating that such rumors are untrue and that Intel has no plans to give up that part of the market.

The statement is quite straightforward, stating that “The rumors that Intel will exit the branded server motherboard business are categorically untrue,” and that "Intel is committed to server board and systems business and will continue to grow volume and revenue year over year."

According to Intel, the fact that they just introduced the new server motherboard based on the recently launched Intel Xeon E3-1200 CPU says a lot about its intentions and that it is currently planning next-generation dual-socket server boards for 2014 as well as actively planning 2015 products.

The statement does not come as a surprise and quite honestly the previous rumor was quite far fetched since server motherboard market is quite a lucrative segment and something that Intel would not easily decide to abandon.
