Biostar launches M500 PCIe NVMe SSDs

With up to 1TB capacity

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than the usual SATA drive. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. Biostar is one of those having presented their new M500 NVMe SSDs.

The new M500 NVMe SSD is going to be available with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacity and features DDR3L DRAM caches. Like most NVMe SSDs out today, the M500 NVMe SSD makes use of the M.2 2280 form factor and a PCIe Gen 3.0 x2 interface and the NVMe 1.2 protocol. The drives pack a couple of interesting features, like a metal heat spreader and a couple of activity LEDs. Last but not least, Biostar has integrated a RGB LED that indicates real-time temperature.

Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should achieve up to 1'700MB/s and 1'100MB/s in the case of sequential writes. According to the manufacturer, the M500 series has an endurance rating of 2 million hour MTBF. Biostar M500 should be available during next weeks.
