AMD has announced that they will rename current FreeSync 2 in FreeSync 2 HDR. This is indeed a good move since quite often you can get confused between FreeSync and FreeSync 2. Since FreeSync 2 is compatible with LFR and HDR, it's correct to add "HDR" as part of its name.
According to the company in an interview with PC Perspective, if a monitor receives a FreeSync 2 certification, that means it is at least compatible with HDR600 and that it covers 99% of BT.709 and 90% of DCI-P3 color spectrums. Furthermore there is a requirement of minimum response time. We find it a sensible move to draw a clearer distinction between FreeSync and FreeSync 2 HDR.
