ASUS unveils WS C621E SAGE motherboard

Featuring dual LGA3647 sockets

Following the launch of the WS X299 PRO, ASUS has revealed the full specifications of its WS C621E SAGE motherboard. This model is compatible with Intel Xeon processors and according to ASUS it should offer "overclocking" feature. The overclocking feature on dual socket Xeon motherboards is very uncommon, however at this time is still unclear how this feature will work.

The WS C621E SAGE is based on an EEB form factor. There are seven full-sized PCIe slots but only four of them feature ASUS SafeSlot. Furthermore the motherboard supports six channels of 2666MHz DDR4 memory per CPU, allowing for up to 12 DIMMs of ECC DDR4 memory to be used at once. In addition it's compatible with up to 768GB to be supported with ultra-large 64GB DIMMs.

In the case of storage you'll find eight angled SATA ports, four U.2 ports and one M.2 slot. ASUS is shipping this motherboard with an Intel VROC key to allow NVMe/PCIe RAID configurations to function. Looking for additional features we find a debug display, several onboard buttons and support for USB 3.1 ports. ASUS equips the WS C621E SAGE with one PS/2 port, two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, four USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and four USB 2.0 connectors. Furthermore there are two Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports and the analogue audio panel with optical out.

So far ASUS has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding the WS C621E SAGE.
