Yesterday Intel launched their Coffee Lake desktop parts and meanwhile there are already a couple of impressive overclocking results on HWBOT. At the moment in the first place we find the chinese overclocker "Kovan Yang" who was able to achieve a monstrously high 7'405 MHz using the new Core i7-8700K CPU. Meanwhile also the well-known overclocker Roman "der8auer" Hartung has come across yet another gem hitting 7'300 MHz.
The benchmark has been conducted on a Z370 Godlike Gaming which is the flagship model for MSI. At the moment the company hasn't announced any Titanium version which is supposed the first choice of overclockers when working with MSI motherboards. However the Godlike Gaming still packs a lot of features like on-board buttons and a strong CPU power design. In addition Kovan Yang has used unspecified DDR4 memory and a NVIDIA 8400 GS graphics card.
So far there are only a few results on HWBOT and we expect to see competition pick up rather sooner than later. According to sources that would like to remain unknown, Coffee Lake is already in shortage but we are sure that we will see more overclockers push max CPU-Z on their Core i7-8700K. At this point in time we're curious to see what is going to be the absolute max frequency the Core i7-8700K can achieve.
