Intel Core i3-8300 spotted

First Core i3 with four cores and eight threads!

Although the acclaimed launch date of Coffee Lake based CPUs will be somewhen during the upcoming weeks news leaks are starting to make it through on a very frequent basis. This time Videocardz is jumping the gun again posting up a screenshot showcasing an Intel Core i3 processor called i3-8300 with four cores and eight threads. This could be the first quad-core Core i3 from Intel. However we believe that the microcode could be just wrong or not updated.

According to the screenshot, the upcoming Intel Core i3-8300 packs a base clock of 4.0GHz but unfortunately there are no details on the boost clock yet. Apart from that there is 8MB of L3 cache. If everything is right, this CPU could be a very good deal, making it perform similar to the current generation Core i7 chips. At this point it’s hard to tell how accurate this leak is. We believe that it’s rather unlikely that Intel is going to upgrade the i3 lineup by this much. In other words this CPU looks too good to be true.

However, on the other hand, we have seen that the upcoming Coffe Lake Core i5 series CPUs are supposed to feature six cores and twelve threads. Since the Core i5 series will come with more cores and threads than what we were used to, maybe even the upcoming Core i3 series will receive the same treatment.
