ASUS adds ROG Strix X299-E Gaming motherboard

Based on ATX form factor

The ASUS ROG Strix X299-E Gaming is another Intel X299 motherboard that should help filling gaps in the ASUS X299 lineup. So far there are five X299 motherboards from ASUS, which are the Prime X299-A, the Prime X299-Deluxe, the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming, the TUF X299 Mark 1 and Mark 2. Compared to the ROG Strix X99 Gaming, the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming offers similar features but a different color scheme.
Like the same model from the previous generation the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming is based on an ATX form factor, yet this time ASUS is using all the area available on the PCB. Nevertheless the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming also comes with RGB backlight above each heat sink and there are steel reinforcements on all the PCIe slots. In general the layout is quite similar to the previous model and therefore it has also been equipped with three full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots.

With a 44-lane CPU, the motherboard supports x16/x16/x8 configurations. There are eight SATA ports and they have been all angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The first M.2 slot is placed under the PCH heatsink and is compatible with 2280 units, while the second one is in the center area and it supports 22110 SSDs.

Since the ROG Strix X299-E Gaming belongs to the vendor’s high-end series, there is also a plastic I/O cover which received RGB backlight. Furthermore we also see all the bells and whistles you'd ask for in the event of overclocking. According to Geizhals, the ASUS ROG Strix X299-E Gaming is already available for 328 Euro.
