Samsung's cylindrical ArtPC desktop PC spotted

Coming with Core i5/i7 CPU and PCIe NVMe SSD

In the aftermath of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 death, the new ArtPC high-end desktop PC from Samsung has been spotted in pre-order, featuring cylindrical design, Core i5/i7 Skylake CPUs, PCIe NVMe SSD and 360-degree audio from Harman Kardon.

Samsung has once again taken a design page from Apple's book, using a cylindrical design on the new Samsung ArtPC that was first introduced by Apple back in 2013 with Mac Pro system and recently revived by MSI with Vortex gaming PC.

While there are still no precise details regarding the new Samsung ArtPC as all we have to go on are two pre-order listings on Amazon.com, we did get some specifications.

The most noticeable features are the cylindrical design as well as an integrated Harman/Kardon omni-directional speaker mounted on the top.

The cheaper US $1,199.99 SKU listed at Amazon, comes with a Core i5 Skylake CPU, AMD Radeon RX 460 graphics card, 8GB of RAM and 256GB NVME SSD, which are pretty decent specifications.

The more expensive, US $1,599.99 SKU, uses Core i7 Skylake CPU, has 16GB of RAM and apparently comes with the same Radeon RX 460 and 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. It also has a 1TB HDD module, which is some sort of expansion module and probably a hot-swappable front mounted drive, but there are still no precise details.

The rest of the specifications include USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet and SD card reader as well as DisplayPort and HDMI outputs.

Unfortunately, Samsung is yet to officially announce the new ArtPC desktop PC so we will surely keep an eye out for it.
