AMD shows Zen-based Summit Ridge running Doom

The new Zen for desktop is ready

AMD has released a video showing its Zen-based Summit Ridge CPU running Doom at E3 2016 show.

Released as a teaser for the launch of desktop Zen-based Summit Ridge CPUs, the video shows AMD's Lead System Engineer, Louis Castro, who talks a bit about Summit Ridge testing phase as well as the fact that it runs Doom.

According to earlier information, Zen CPU architecture will first launch for desktop market, as Summit Ridge CPUs, followed by server, notebook and embedded versions. AMD has promised that Zen CPU core will deliver 40 percent higher Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) performance.

During Computex 2016 show, AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, has said that the Summit Ridge CPU has been taped out earlier this year and should launch as an 8-core/16-thread flagship and be a part of the all new AM4 desktop platform.

The test system was probably based on Summit Ridge CPU paired up with Polaris-based GPU and it runs Doom without any issues, although we do not have any precise details regarding the system specifications.
