It appears that VR-ready gaming PCs packed in a backpack form-factor are a real deal as HP is also working on such a system.
While it is still just a prototype, HP's VR gaming backpack will be a part of HP's Omen gaming lineup and can be configured with up to Core i7 CPU, up to 32GB RAM and a graphics card that should be able to cope with VR gaming.
HP has also promised that such system will be kept under 10 pounds (4.5kg) in weight and have two batteries that should power both the CPU and the GPU separately. Batteries will be located in a waist belt while only two fans will take care of the cooling.
Since both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive need to be hooked up to the PC, such system really makes sense. HP is also looking to bundle a wireless display, mouse and a keyboard as a part of the package but we still need to see it in action in order to give a final judgement.
Unfortunately, HP did not reveal any details on the availability date or the price of its Omen VR gaming backpack.
