Nvidia GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cooler shrouds spotted

Nvidia to stick with standard naming scheme

It appears that we finally have a bit more information regarding Nvidia's future naming scheme as alleged GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cooler shrouds have been spotted online.

Discovered by Wccftech.com, the picture shows the shrouds of both the upcoming GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 which should be based on Pascal GPU.

Although the picture only shows the cooler shrouds, it does reveal that Nvidia has decided to stick to its old naming scheme and will launch its upcoming Pascal GPU based graphics card as the GTX 1000 series.

As this is only a leak, it should be taken with a grain of salt, although the shrouds are in line with what we have seen earlier and use the correct Geforce font.

Earlier rumors suggested that Nvidia might switch to a different naming scheme but as long as cooler shrouds are not made and boxes are not printed out, nothing is carved in stone.
