OCZ dual-port Z-Drive 6000 NVMe U.2 SSD now available

Allows two host access to the drive

Toshiba has announced availability of a dual-port version of the OCZ's Z-Drive 6000/6300 NVMe U.2 SSDs, which will allow two hosts to concurrently access data from the same storage device.

The OCZ Z-Drive 6000 series is available in three models, Z-Drive 6000, Z-Drive 6300 and Z-Drive 6300 Max Capacity, all features U.2 form factor and NVMe 1.1b Gen3 x4 (2x2) interface. All three are available in different capacities ranging from 800GB to 3.84TB and are based on Toshiba A19 MLC NAND.

The new dual-port option allows two hosts to concurrently access data from the same storage device or allow a redundant access path to the drive and SAS-like features such as High Availability (HA).

The OCZ Z-Drive 6000 series is meant for read-intensive or mixed workloads which require high bandwidth, low latency performance as well as redundancy. The new Z-Drive 6000 dual-port capability enables redundant data access which both eliminates a single point of failure as well as maintains Quality of Service (QoS) when one data path is compromised.

In addition to the dual-port upgrade, the Z-Drive 6000 series has been updated with new features including multiple namespaces, non-binary sector sizes, and self-encrypting drive (SED) with Crypto Erase.

The Z-Drive 6000 series offers sustained I/O performance of over 700,000 IOPS for 4K random read with latency of 30 µs.

The new dual-port firmware is now available for partners and customers.
