Foxconn could buy Sharp for US $5.3 billion

Could give Foxconn display manufacturing

According to the latest rumor, it appears that Foxconn is looking to buy a display maker Sharp for US $5.3 billion.

As Foxconn is responsible for the assembly of Apple iPhone devices while display parts come from either Sharp, LG or Samsung, Foxconn's move to buy Sharp would get them an exclusive deal with Apple and secure them even more work for the company.

The fresh rumor comes form 9to5Mac site, citing industry sources, which also suggest that this will allow Foxconn to make it own electronic products, considering that it already has all the required tools.

This does not come as a big surprise considering that Sharp already had some financial troubles over the past few years and it could actually need someone like Foxconn.
